BEACON, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A Newburgh man was arrested on several drug and weapon charges following a traffic stop in Beacon on Wednesday, according to New York State Police. Savon Bagby, 27, faces several felonies.
At about 12:45 p.m., State Police pulled over a car driving eastbound on I-84 for an alleged vehicle and traffic law violation. Inside the vehicle, troopers reportedly found a female driver, a child passenger in the rear seat and Bagby sitting in the front-seat passenger.
According to police, Bagby had an active warrant out of the city of Newburgh. After being taken into custody, the 27-year-old was allegedly found with about 15.5 grams of MDMA and 3.5 grams of crack cocaine. Two revolvers were also found during a search of the car, police said.
Both the female driver and the child passenger were reportedly released. Bagby was charged with the following:

- Third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance — hallucinogen (felony)
- Third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance — intent to sell (felony)
- Fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (felony)
- Second-degree criminal possession of a weapon (two counts, felony)
- Criminal possession of a firearm (two counts, felony)
- Endangering the welfare of a child
The 27-year-old was arraigned in City of Beacon Court and is being held at the Dutchess County Justice and Transition Center in lieu of $50,000 cash bail, $400,000 bond or $700,000 partially-secured bond. He is scheduled to reappear in court on Monday.
