2 arrested in Ulster on multiple felony drug charges

ULSTER, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Two men are facing several felony drug charges after a traffic stop on I-87 in Ulster, according to New York State Police. Colin Hill, 48, of East Dorset, Vermont and Correy Smith, 32, of Brooklyn were arrested on Thursday.

Just after 2 p.m., troopers pulled over the suspects’ car for alleged vehicle and traffic law violations as it was traveling northbound. State Police K-9 Vinn completed an exterior scan of the car, leading to a positive alert for the presence of narcotics, authorities said.

In a subsequent search, State Police allegedly found about half-pound of cocaine and just under 2 ounces of ketamine. Hill, who was the driving the car, and Smith, the front seat passenger, were charged with the following:

  • First-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (Class A-I Felony)
  • Third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance — intent to sell (Class B Felony)
  • Fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (Class C Felony)
  • Fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (Class D Felony)
  • Second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia

The two are being held at Ulster County Jail without bail.
