2 women killed, 2 men hurt in crash outside Rate Field

A 21-year-old Tampa, Florida, woman was one of two women killed in a crash that also left two men injured Sunday night outside Rate Field in Bridgeport.

The crash happened around 9:15 p.m. when a red sedan going east in the 300 block of West 35th Street lost control, crossed the median and was hit by a black SUV, Chicago police said.

Two women in the sedan, including 21-year-old Natalia Andrea Acevedo Mendez, of Tampa, were taken to Stroger Hospital where they were pronounced dead, police said. The identity of a 24-year-old woman who was killed has not been released.

Two men in the SUV were taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center with injuries not considered life threatening, officials said.
