
Monday marks Indigenous Peoples Day, and KSTP has a list of what’s open and closed and what events are happening around the Twin Cities. “There are several events happening at the Minneapolis American Indian Center on Monday, including an Indigenous Peoples Day Powwow, which begins at 1 p.m. and goes until 7 p.m.“
The Duluth tattoo community is coming together to raise money for a family impacted by a house fire. WDIO reports “Benchmark Tattoo’s ‘Together for Rosendahl’s’ will be donating 100 percent of flash tattoo proceeds to the family. … Benchmark Tattoo isn’t the only tattoo shop to support the cause.”
A Minnesota woman has found herself on a mission to savor stories of disappearing towns. MPR News says Laura Grisamore, who lives in Huntersville in Wadena County, “started photographing the faded buildings around her. It lit a fire under her. She decided then to make it her mission to preserve the memories of other towns in their twilight.”
Sudanese traditions are flourishing at a New Hope Farm, Sahan Journal says. “The farm is a connection point for members of the local Sudanese community. And as a bonus, they take home fresh produce.”
