1. 1 dead after wrong-way crash on I-787 in Albany, Two dead after single-car crash on I-787 in Albany
The New York State Police is currently investigating two serious crashes that happened on I-787 and the Thruway in Albany on Sunday morning. Three people have been pronounced dead between the two, separate crashes.
2. Dog left in closed Altamont boarding facility reunited with owner
A dog that was left in a now-closed animal boarding facility in Altamont is back with its owner. Guilderland police said they were able to retrieve Angel Friday, and she is in good condition.
3. Troy issues proposed 2026 budget
Troy Mayor Carmella Mantello issued a proposed 2026 budget for the city on Friday night. The $122 million plan aims to ensure fiscal discipline and modernized, long-term stability for Troy.
4. Community invited to share feedback on latest Reimagining I-787 plans
The open house will take place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Albany Capital Center on Oct. 21. It will feature interactive stations where the Reimagine I-787Â study team will be available to discuss the federal and state environmental processes, the planned schedule, factors to evaluate and consider, and the criteria for narrowing concepts into more detailed alternatives.
5. Shaker Road Fire Department celebrates 50 years of Fire Explorer program
Friday night was the annual Shaker Road Fire Department‘s Open House. Hundreds came out to the festivities to learn more about their Fire Department during Fire Prevention Week. This year was a little more significant than the years past as they’re celebrating 50 years of their Fire Explorer Post 475.
