A man is in custody after police said an investigation that began on Hudson Avenue led them to Western Avenue.

2. Austin Breyette takes the stand in his dirt bike crash trial

The defense has rested in the trial of Austin Breyette — the man accused of hitting University at Albany student Alexa Kropf with his dirt bike in 2024, and leaving the scene. Breyette took the stand in court today, providing an emotional testimony.

3. Closing arguments wrap in trial of Schenectady mother accused of killing her baby

Closing arguments wrapped up Wednesday afternoon in the trial of Persia Nelson, the mother accused of killing her 10-month-old baby, Halo Branton, in March 2024. According to evidence presented in court, Nelson had gotten into an argument with her boyfriend and family the evening of Halo’s death.

4. St. Mary’s Healthcare announces exit from long-term care

St. Mary’s Healthcare has announced plans to “exit the long-term care business.” The president of St. Mary’s said they have come to a preliminary agreement with a future owner of the Wilkinson Residential Health Care facility.

5. Saratoga Springs begins changing speed limit signage

The Saratoga Springs Traffic Department has reportedly started installing new signage to reflect the city’s recently reduced speed limit. Authorities ask drivers to be on the lookout for the changes.
