Former Bears safety Eddie Jackson, one of the stars of their 2018 division championship team, is interested in playing in the NFL again if he gets a call from a good team on which he’ll actually play significantly. Specifically, he’d sign with the Eagles “in a heartbeat” to reunite with defensive coordinator Vic Fangio.
Jackson, 31, spent his first seven seasons with the Bears before leaving in free agency to join the Ravens in 2024. He lasted just nine games with them, starting four, before voicing frustration about his limited role and getting waived. He signed on to the Chargers’ practice squad and appeared in two games for them.
“It’s really not a money thing; It’s more about the right situation where I can go out and actually play,” Jackson told VideoGamer.com. “I can cheerlead from home… I can do that from my couch with my kids. Money’s always good, but I’ve made some money. So it’s about the opportunity, for sure.”
He called a hypothetical chance with the Eagles “a dream scenario.” He wanted to sign with them after leaving the Bears, but they weren’t interested, and he got a one-year, $1.5 million deal with the Ravens.
The Bears drafted Jackson in the fourth round out of Alabama in 2017, and he was an All-Pro his second season. He finished his Bears career with 459 tackles, 15 interceptions (three returned for touchdowns) and six fumble recoveries.
