Bears S Jaquan Brisker says trash talk made Justin Jefferson cry, looks to get in Ja’Marr Chase’s head next

Bears safety Jaquan Brisker said part of the team’s game plan against Bengals star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase on Sunday will be to distract him with trash talk. And he claimed to be so effective at the art that he once made Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson cry during a game.

“We’re going to talk, and… especially the way I talk and the way other people talk, we get in people’s heads,” Brisker said. “A grown man will be really crying out there, a grown man with kids. Imagine that. Seriously. It’s hilarious. I was I was mic’ed up every game.”

The “crying” comment was in reference to a 2022 game against Jefferson in which he caught all 10 passes thrown to him in the first half for 138 yards (and threw a 23-yard pass), then caught 2 of 3 for 16 yards in the second half.

“My rookie year… I was talking a lot of trash to Justin Jefferson, and he was crying,” Brisker said. “In the second half, that’s when he dropped, like, every ball. first half he killed us, but second half [nothing].”

It’s an interesting theory, but it’s hard to believe that tactic will work on Chase. He leads the NFL in catches (70) and yards (720) and has five touchdowns.
