Video: Bears chairman George McCaskey lets loose after 47-42 win over Bengals goes final

CINCINNATI — Even Bears coach Ben Johnson admitted it wasn’t pretty, but the 47-42 win over the Bengals was an epic game.

It had everyone in the organization fired up, including chairman George McCaskey watching from just off the field. A video from Fox 32 showed McCaskey celebrating exuberantly as Bengals quarterback Joe Flacco’s final heave was intercepted by cornerback Nahshon Wright. He pumped his fist and screamed as he ran to the locker room.

The Bears appeared to have the game in hand when linebacker Tremaine Edmunds intercepted a pass from Flacco at the 4-yard line and ran it back 96 yards for a touchdown for what would’ve been a 48-27 lead with three minutes left. Edmunds was ruled down by contact on replay review, though, and the Bengals’ comeback began.

After a quick touchdown, an onside kick recovery and another quick score, the Bengals took a 42-41 lead in the final minute. Bears quarterback Caleb Williams answered with a 58-yard touchdown pass to tight end Colston Loveland to recapture the lead, 47-42, with 17 seconds left.

But the Bengals still had a shot. Flacco got them to their own 48-yard line for one last throw to the end zone, but he was well short and Wright picked off the pass.

Can a first-round pick go from question mark to sudden star in the blink of an eye? Asking for a few million friends.
The 22nd running back taken in this year’s draft looked like something much more Sunday.
The victory got the Bears to 5-3, matching their win total from last season and putting them just behind the Packers and Lions in the NFC North.
