SCHUYLERVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The Schuylerville football team is the lone defending state champion in Section 2. The Black Horses began their section title defense Friday night in the Class C quarterfinals, and made quite a statement.
Schuylerville, the top seed out of the East Division, rolled past Hudson, the four-seed out of the West, 58-0. Benjamin VanVeghten tallied two touchdowns on the ground, adding another through the air. Blake Cumm ran for 104 yards and two touchdowns on eight carries.
Schuylerville will take on Hoosick Falls/Tamarac in the semifinals on Nov. 7 at 7:00 p.m.
