“Our forever home”: HGTV takes on Trump’s White House ballroom on “Saturday Night Live”

President Donald Trump is perhaps the biggest fan of reality TV we’ve ever had in the Oval Office. So, it makes a certain sort of sense that he would reach out to celebrity renovators from HGTV to help with his plans for a massive ballroom at the White House.

On this weekend’s “Saturday Night Live,” a sketch imagined The Trumps calling in the hosts of “Property Brothers” to oversee the project. With a budget of “$350 million to infinity,” the pseudo-twins set to work adding as much gold as possible to the presidential home.

Away from the gilded hallways, “SNL” skewered the design sense of both Trumps. The president showed Teller his moodboard for the White House, which included images of Vladimir Putin and Jabba the Hutt’s palace from “Return of the Jedi.” While walking through a passage of dead trees and skeletons, Miles Teller’s property bro complemented the First Lady’s Halloween decorations.

Those are for Christmas,” Chloe Fineman’s Melania replied.

The Trumps eventually show their hand, saying that they plan to stick around for a long while.

“It’ll be ready just in time for my third term,” James Austin Johnson’s Trump said. “We’re not leaving. We’re going to be doing a little thing called ‘coup.’”

“We want this to be our forever home,” Fineman’s Melania explained.
