The Indianapolis Colts made one of the biggest moves of the NFL trade deadline.
Not many people thought the New York Jets would even consider parting with All-Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner.
They signed him to a record-breaking contract extension this offseason, and they reportedly weren’t shopping him.
That speaks volumes about how aggressive the Colts were, and insider Albert Breer recently revealed what the trade means for the team.
“It tells you that they think Daniel Jones is more just an answer for 2025,” Breer said.

The Colts may have salvaged Jones’ career.
Likewise, he has given head coach Shane Steichen the quarterback play he has been looking for to properly run his high-powered offense.
The Colts drew mixed reviews when they gave Jones a one-year contract, given that they had invested a top-five pick on Anthony Richardson.
But given Richardson’s inefficiency, injury woes, and character concerns, it didn’t take long before Jones proved that they made the right decision.
Fast forward to today, and the Colts are tied for the best record in the NFL.
They look like a legitimate Super Bowl contender, and it seems like Jones is playing his way into a lucrative long-term contract.
Indianapolis will try to bounce back from a Week 9 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers when it faces the Atlanta Falcons in Germany in Week 10.
