The Latest Storm Tracker Forecast from Meteorologist Kevin Appleby:

A coastal system is bringing clouds, a bit of a breeze, and some rain to our region today, keeping temperatures on the chilly side of things from start to finish. While the coverage of showers will decrease this afternoon and especially by tomorrow, substantial sunshine doesn’t return to the forecast until the middle of the week.

This morning, the rain is the most widespread and the steadiest we will see over the course of the day. By 10 AM, a drying trend that is beginning this morning for southeastern areas will continue to progress northwestward, but expect to still be contending with showers over the Catskills, Mohawk Valley, Adirondacks, and up towards Central Vermont. For the afternoon, expect just isolated activity – showers, sprinkles, and pockets of drizzle here and there.

Temperatures should be able to climb ever so slightly with less consistent shower activity during the PM hours, with highs generally in the mid 50s. There will be a bit of a breeze to contend with, particularly over the eastern Catskills, Berkshires, and southern Green Mountains where we may see gusts top out around 30 MPH through the afternoon.

Winds will ease up overnight. Isolated showers, sprinkles, and pockets of drizzle will continue, but I don’t see anything overnight being umbrella-worthy. Temps will slide into the low to mid 40s.

A quick sprinkle or shower is possible under mainly cloudy skies tomorrow morning as the coastal system pulls away from us. Otherwise, some late-day breaks of sun and overall much drier conditions will allow temperatures to slowly climb back close to 60 degrees later Tuesday.

The return to much brighter skies begins Wednesday and especially by Thursday, but temperatures trend downwards. After flirting with 60 Wednesday, expect temperatures to only climb into the mid 50s Thursday.

While skies turn brighter those two days, wind gusts also will increase. I think we will see gusts 25-30 MPH on Wednesday, with a chance for some 35 MPH gusts by Thursday. The winds will relax entering into the weekend, with temperatures climbing as well. After a nice Saturday with highs in the mid 60s, temperatures push 70 ahead of a cold front Sunday which looks to bring showers to the region later Sunday and Sunday night.
