To say that the past three years have been brutal for New York Jets fans would be a massive understatement.
The team finally seemed to be headed in the right direction, adding quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the seemingly missing piece, to complement an elite defense.
Instead, it all went downhill.
Fast forward to today, and not only are they still without a franchise quarterback, but that defense is no longer elite, with Quinnen Williams and Sauce Gardner traded away.
With that in mind, first-year head coach Aaron Glenn sent a message to fans after the NFL trade deadline.
“I want this to be a team that the fans are proud of. But again, I’ve never said that we’re going to be proud of them right now. At some point, I want this to be a team that the fans are proud of. I still stick with that. I will still say that. This is a team that the fans will be proud of. I’m not going to get into the patience and all that type of c*** that you always hear, but I would tell you this: Our guys are working, we’re going to continue to work, and I’m going to stand by that statement. I want this to be a team that the fans are proud of. Don’t let go of the rope. Continue to watch us work,” Glenn said.

Truth be told, it’s hard to feel optimistic about anything involving the Jets.
This won’t be the first time they have had multiple first- and second-round picks in recent years, and that has done little to help their cause.
Despite still having All-Pro defensive personnel, they couldn’t get the job done on that side of the ball.
Now, with Williams dealt to the Dallas Cowboys and Gardner sent to the Indianapolis Colts, the Jets are pretty much starting from scratch.
They will also most likely lose running back Breece Hall as a free agent.
If there’s any silver lining, it is that they could be in line to land the No. 1 overall pick in the next two NFL Drafts.
But again, this team always seems to find a way to come up short, and it will take some major organizational changes to turn things around for this suffering fan base.
