Analyst Reveals Troubling Stat About Packers’ 4th Quarter Defense

The Green Bay Packers had a strong outing on offense.

Still, it was somewhat disappointing to see them playing a close game against this version of the Cincinnati Bengals.

Once again, it raised some doubts about this team’s ability to close out games.

To shed light on this, NFL analyst Daire Carragher shared a rather interesting stat.

The Packers are the only team that hasn’t allowed a single point in the first quarter.

Unfortunately, it seems that they can’t keep that type of defensive intensity going on for long.

More than that, they seem to crumble in the final minutes of the game.

They’re No. 4 in points given up in the second quarter, No. 5 in points given up in the third quarter, and rank dead last in the league in points given up in the final quarter.

Of course, context matters, and it’s also worth noting that some of those scores they’ve given up have been in garbage time.

That should only continue to be the case if this team is up by double digits, as the defense will give up yards in the middle of the field, allowing the clock to keep ticking and the game to end.

Still, they need to make sure this doesn’t become a worrisome trend in big games or against playoff-caliber opposition.

It has already come back to haunt them against the Cleveland Browns and Dallas Cowboys, and that should be a point of emphasis for Matt LaFleur and Jeff Hafley in the next couple of weeks.
