REXFORD, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A family favorite orchard in Rexford got into the Halloween spirit with their first ever haunted corn maze, “Stalked”. Dozens of people came out to brave the cold temperatures for Bowman Orchards and local haunt production company Booo365’s inaugural haunted corn maze.
“Abigail planted her dolls, and they come up out of the ground. They know who you are, they want you and you,” said scare actor Sylivia Fletcher.
“They want you,” replied NEWS10’s Reporter James De La Fuente.
First in line, two fright fanatics told De La Fuente they just came to check out the maze. “It’s something different for us to do that we haven’t done before. Neither of us have ever been in a corn maze,” said David Funaro.
David’s daughter said, “I kind of just want to be scared because I like, love horror movies. But my dad won’t let me watch too many.”
Dan Barner, Co-Owner of Booo365 said this is his first big Halloween event. “Our cast and crew is about 20 people, actors and support staff. And then we have about seven acres here at the corn maze. This year it’s four nights. Start slow, manageable, have a good successful event and then repeat it next year and go bigger.” Barner went on to explain that the partnership with the orchard was a perfect fit. “The family is a great family to work with, so that that’s important for us. But the grounds are perfect. Everything’s here and there’s lots of parking. There’s a beautiful farm store that’ll be open while we’re running so people can go inside and check out the farm store. The bakery is going to be open, and it’s a nice rural setting.”
As NEWS 10’a Photojournalist Pat McCormick and reporter De La Fuente made their way through the maze they had some interesting and frightful twists and turns. Check out the video above to see some of the scares for yourself.
Some of the folks who entered the haunted maze almost didn’t make it out.
“I did it,” said Madison Lake.
“You almost didn’t, though,” replied De La Fuente.
“I know,” responded Lake.
De La Fuente asked, “Why? What happened to you in there?”
“I don’t know. I just got scared. I started to cry and, you know, I still made it through. I survived,” answered Lake.
Bowman Orchards and Booo365’s inaugural haunted corn maze, Stalked opens at 7 p.m. and will have three more nights of frights for you to check out the newest haunted attraction to hit the Capital Region, if you dare.
