Boy, 17, among 2 dead, 1 seriously injured in South Side shooting

Two people including a 17-year-old boy have died and a third was recovering at a hospital after a shooting in the city’s Auburn Gresham neighborhood on the South Side.

Details were scarce but police said the three victims were inside a residential building in the 8100 block of South Marshfield Avenue when someone shot them about 8 a.m., Chicago police said.

The assailant or assailants got away and were not under arrest, police said.

The 17-year-old suffered gunshot wounds to the body and was dead on the scene

Two males, one of whom was 17, suffered gunshot wounds throughout their bodies and were dead on the scene, police said. The two unidentified victims were taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, according to the fire department.

The sole survivor, a 21-year-old man, was shot in his right arm and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was listed in good condition, police said.

Area 2 detectives are investigating.
