Empire State Aerosciences Museum celebrates Halloween

GLENVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The Empire State Aerosciences Museum hosted their second annual Halloween-themed event Saturday for families across the Capital Region. The event combined kids’ Halloween-sweet tooth with a chance to learn all about the different aircrafts on display.

For kids across the Capital Region, there are many reasons to love Halloween.

“You get candy and so much fun and you get to eat it,” said one member of the Hudson family.

And this year, that Halloween candy rush came from a museum, of all places. The Empire State Aerosciences Museum hosted a Halloween-themed event for kids and parents to find special Halloween treats and explore the assortment of aircrafts.

“We’re always trying to help with public events. Its a pretty unique venue so I think its a good place for people to come see something different,” said Kevin Millington, who is on the board of directors for the museum.

Millington said they have planes ranging from new to old — with the oldest one dating back to 1910. Plus, nearly all of the planes were decorated with something spooky and hidden treats.

The kids got a chance to find those treats, all while being dressed up in their favorite costumes. One child, Ilsa Steffen decided to dress up as a witch this year.

“Because I thought it would suit me this Halloween,” said Steffen, who’s favorite part of the day was of course, the candy.

“I wanted to be a ninja because I do Taekwondo,” said a member of the Hudson family. “I wanted to be Taylor Swift because she’s pretty,” said another member of the Hudson family.

Millington shared that after Halloween, the museum has plans to hold a Christmas event on Dec. 13 as well. For more information, visit their website.
