We are in Week 6 of the 2025 NFL season, and it has been tough to get a good feel for which teams are contenders or pretenders so far.

Super Bowl favorites such as the Kansas City Chiefs, Cincinnati Bengals, and Baltimore Ravens have fallen flat out of the gate, while other surprising teams such as the Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are showing signs of making the step up to contender status.

If you ask NBA legend Charles Barkley, he is a firm believer in the 4-1 Buffalo Bills and said during a Thursday appearance on The Rich Eisen show that this is the year they finally win their first Lombardi.

“Detroit Lions against the Buffalo Bills. Bills win their first Super Bowl,” Barkley said.

A Super Bowl between the Bills and Lions, two of the NFL’s most tortured franchises, which have both never won a Super Bowl, would be straight out of a Hollywood script.

The path to a Bills/Lions Super Bowl was clear last year, but the Lions fell flat in the Divisional Round to the Washington Commanders and squandered home-field advantage, while the Bills lost in the AFC Championship game to the Chiefs for what feels like the 50th time in a row.

Both are off to 4-1 starts this year and look as dangerous as ever, so there is certainly a strong chance that Barkley could be right with his prediction.

There is a lot of football left to play, and a lot can change between now and February, but a Lions Vs. Bills Super Bowl would be exhilarating.
