San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey set a new NFL record during Sunday’s 34-24 victory over the New York Giants.
The veteran running back scored twice in the win, opening the game with a 5-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Mac Jones before adding a 3-yard rushing score in the fourth quarter.
Those two touchdowns allowed McCaffrey to surpass a mark previously held by former NFL great Marshall Faulk.
ESPN’s Nick Wagoner highlighted the achievement after the game, noting the historical significance of McCaffrey’s performance against New York.
“49ers RB Christian McCaffrey has a rushing and receiving touchdown today. It’s the 16th game in his career he’s had at least one of each. It passes Marshall Faulk for the most such games in NFL history,” Wagoner shared.

Faulk finished his career with 15 games featuring both a rushing and receiving touchdown.
Former Baltimore running back Lenny Moore, former Philadelphia running back Brian Westbrook, and current New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara each recorded 12 such performances throughout their professional careers.
McCaffrey totaled 173 yards from scrimmage in the victory over the Giants.
He carried the ball 28 times for 106 rushing yards while adding five receptions for 67 receiving yards.
The nine-year veteran continues to anchor San Francisco’s offensive attack through eight weeks of the season.
McCaffrey leads the 49ers in both rushing and receiving yards while recording three touchdowns in each category.
His dual-threat production remains central to San Francisco’s offensive success and reinforces his standing among the league’s premier running backs.
