Colin Cowherd continues to criticize the Buffalo Bills‘ defense despite the team’s efforts to address longstanding issues.

While the offense has thrived under Joe Brady with a balanced approach that adapts between the pass and run, the defensive unit has failed to deliver similar results.

Buffalo invested heavily through the draft, free agency, and contract extensions to improve that side of the ball, but the struggles have persisted throughout the season.

On his show, The Herd, Cowherd delivered a sharp assessment of the Bills’ defensive performance.

He pointed to alarming statistics that underline just how severe the problem has become for a team with playoff aspirations.

“They’re allowing 5.8 yards per rush. And that is the worst since the 1934 Cincinnati Reds, and I swear, they’re a baseball franchise. So, it’s bad,” Cowherd said.

The contrast between offensive versatility and defensive execution has become a recurring theme as Buffalo navigates a challenging stretch.

The Bills allowed both a 150-yard rusher and a 150-yard receiver for the first time in franchise history during their 24-14 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football.

Running back Bijan Robinson tallied 238 all-purpose yards, including 170 rushing on 19 carries with a touchdown.

Wide receiver Drake London added 10 receptions for 158 yards and one touchdown.

Buffalo has now lost two straight games after starting the season 4-0 and sits second in the AFC East behind the New England Patriots.

Injuries have contributed to the defensive struggles, with Ed Oliver missing four games, Matt Milano managing a pectoral injury, and DaQuan Jones sidelined against Atlanta due to a calf issue.

The Bills are allowing 156 rushing yards per game, including over 200 against both the Ravens and Falcons.

Those vulnerabilities remain a significant concern moving forward.
