Cook County residents can get free COVID, flu shots at county clinics starting this weekend

Starting Saturday Cook County residents can receive free flu and COVID-19 shots from the Cook County Department of Public Health.

The health department will provide the free shots every Saturday at its vaccination clinics starting this weekend and until March 28.

The clinics offering the complimentary shots will rotate between five different locations in Blue Island, Robbins, Ford Heights, Arlington Heights and North Riverside. The full schedule and clinic information can be found here. Appointments, insurance and proof of immigration status are not required, and there is no charge for the shots.

The Chicago Department of Public Health also supplies free shots for the flu and COVID-19 at its immunization clinics.

During last year’s flu season, only 30% of Cook County residents received a flu shot and only 14% received COVID-19 vaccinations, according to the county health department.

Despite new and restrictive federal guidelines on the COVID-19 shot, Illinois issued more expansive recommendations that permit anyone to get the shot.
