Cooper Flagg was welcomed to the NBA on Wednesday night, and life wasn’t easy for the No. 1 overall draft pick.
Not only did Flagg have to butt heads with Victor Wembanyama, but he also didn’t have his best night ever.
Following his 10-point, 10-rebound game, Flagg was honest about how he played.
“Not great, I mean obviously didn’t play incredibly well, but gotta move past it. Trying to focus on starting to get ready for Friday. Just trying to assert myself a little bit, but just trying to take what was there. I’ve got to be a little more aggressive off the rip,” Flagg said.

10 points and 10 rebounds aren’t bad, especially for a first game in the NBA, but Flagg wants more than that from himself and for his team.
If he had performed better, they may have been able to overtake the Spurs and avoid a 125-92 loss.
Despite the lackluster showing, Mavericks fans aren’t that worried about Flagg, at least not yet.
Most people don’t remember the first game of many NBA greats, because it takes time to adjust to the league.
It is rare that someone is explosive and consistent right away, so Dallas fans are willing and ready to give Flagg more time.
If he is still speaking like this halfway through the season, there should be some concern, but it’s far too early to be nervous.
Flagg has the right mindset, and he is focusing on the next game.
He earned so much hype and expectation for good reason, and Flagg fans know that he is only getting started.
