Car crashes into Colonie dentist office, causing gas leak

COLONIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A car crashed into a Colonie dentist office on Sand Creek Road around 9:30 a.m. Friday. The collision ripped the gas service out of the building, causing a gas leak.

Everyone evacuated quickly, and no one was injured.

“I think it was driver confusion,” Colonie Fire Company Chief Jeff Kayser said. “I think they hit the gas instead of the brake. They were pulling into the parking lot, and then all of a sudden they stepped on the gas.”

The road was shut down for a short period of time. Officials said National Grid was able to contain the leak, and there are no health concerns.
