The Indianapolis Colts entered the 2025 season with little expectations and no presence in playoff conversations.

Now sitting at 7-1, they have forced the league to reconsider everything about their roster and potential.

Jonathan Taylor has been the driving force behind that shift, putting together a campaign that has elevated him into legitimate MVP discussions while challenging the notion that only quarterbacks deserve consideration for the award.

Taylor recently appeared on the Up & Adams show and discussed the moment he recognized this Colts team possessed something different from previous seasons.

“I knew the type of team we had. Once we got into camp, I just saw the way we worked. I saw how things were clicking very early. I knew we had something special. Of course we know that it was going to take work, we gotta go out and prove that every Sunday, but just from that first week of camp, I’m like, ‘We have something special here.’ As long as we continue to keep focus and don’t get complacent, we can be really special,” Taylor said.

Indianapolis has built its success on consistent execution across all three phases.

The defense has generated turnovers at critical moments while the offense has maintained balance through Shane Steichen’s play-calling.

Those elements have created a system that functions with precision week after week.

Taylor’s October performance validated his early-season optimism.

He carried the ball 66 times for 436 yards and nine touchdowns while averaging 6.6 yards per attempt.

His contributions extended beyond the ground game as he added 12 receptions for 93 yards through the air.

The production placed Taylor first in the league for both total touchdowns and rushing scores during the month.

The NFL recognized his dominance by naming him the AFC Offensive Player of the Month.

Taylor’s performance has given Indianapolis the foundation needed to sustain its unexpected run.

Whether that momentum carries them through the second half will determine if this season becomes something more than just a strong start.
