Equipment problem causes Muni Metro delays in SF

SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) — Muni Metro light-rail service in San Francisco resumed Wednesday evening in the subway under Market Street after an overhead equipment problem near the Powell station caused an hours-long service disruption.

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency initially issued an alert at about 2:20 p.m. about the problem with the overhead wire on the outbound side of the Muni Metro tracks near the Powell station.

Buses were taking passengers along Market Street between the Market & Steuart and Market & Castro stops during the disruption, while trains coming from the western end of the city turned around before reaching Market Street.

Shortly before 7:30 p.m., the SFMTA wrote on social media that crews had finished testing the overhead wire and were resuming full subway service in both directions.
