The situation with Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies seems to be deteriorating quickly.

Just days ago, Morant raised eyebrows with his curt, brief statements after a disappointing loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Then the Grizzlies suspended him for a single game due to conduct detrimental to the team.

Morant is back with his team, but his attitude didn’t seem much better when he spoke to the press on Monday night.

Asked if everything between him and the Grizzlies was resolved, Morant said yes, but his body language and tone suggested otherwise.

“Yeah [things are resolved], they (Tuomas Iisalo) told y’all that right? No, [I don’t have my joy back]. If I didn’t have a good relationship, I wouldn’t talk to them at all. We’ve had our convos over these,” Morant said.

Anyone watching that footage can tell that Morant isn’t very happy with his team, which means the rest of this season could be a huge headache for Memphis.

If they are really able to work things out with Morant, the situation could improve, and he could bring up his season average, which currently stands at 20.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 6.7 assists on 40.6 percent from the field.

But if Morant and the Grizzlies can’t see eye-to-eye, a trade could be coming.

This developing drama is starting to feel a lot like what the Miami Heat experienced with Jimmy Butler last season, and everyone knows how that turned out.

Morant has been Memphis’ most important player for years, but things feel incredibly damaged right now, perhaps beyond the point of repair.

The next few games and weeks will be very telling.
