Jackie Salvatore, candidate for Columbia Co. Sheriff, talks issues with NEWS10

HUDSON, N.Y. (NEWS10) — On November 4, voters in Columbia County will pick a new sheriff. Two candidates are trying to replace Sheriff Donald Krapf, who chose not to run for re-election.

One of them is democrat Jackie Salvatore. The Columbia County Undersheriff has more than 20 years of experience in law enforcement and management. She says when it comes to the ongoing opioid crisis, access to services is key to battling it.

“They either didn’t know about them or they didn’t know how to access them,” said Salvatore. She adds, “we have worked with a lot of the agencies to improve their websites, get more information out there.”

Salvatore sat down with NEWS10 to discuss the issues facing Columbia County.
