The New York Jets and Denver Broncos met Sunday at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, a venue that has featured offensive showcases since hosting its first NFL game in 2019.

This matchup broke that trend entirely, as Denver escaped with a 13-11 victory in one of the ugliest offensive performances in recent memory.

The game’s decisive sequence unfolded late in the fourth quarter when the Broncos’ defense sacked Jets quarterback Justin Fields on fourth-and-8 with under 90 seconds remaining.

That play sealed Denver’s win while cementing a historically dismal showing by New York’s offense.

“The Jets’ -10 net Pass YDS is the worst in a game in Jets history, and worst by any team in 27 YEARS.” ESPN Insights shared on X.

Jets head coach Aaron Glenn addressed the struggles directly after the game, calling the passing attack “nonexistent.”

He emphasized that improvement must come quickly, acknowledging that Denver’s relentless pass rush created severe problems for his offense throughout the afternoon.

Fields completed just 9 of 17 passes for 45 yards while absorbing nine sacks that cost the Jets 55 yards.

According to USA TODAY, this represents only the second time in franchise history that New York has finished with negative passing yards.

The first instance came on December 21, 1975, against the Dallas Cowboys when the team recorded minus-1 yard through the air.

The last NFL team to post negative passing yards was ironically the New York Giants, who threw for minus-9 yards against the Jets in Week 8 of 2023.

The Jets travel to Carolina next week looking to avoid another offensive disaster and get their passing game functional again.
