The Indiana Pacers wish that Tyrese Haliburton were available in the new season, but they will try to make the most of it without him.

Several players in the Pacers’ lineup will attempt to show more skills and potential in 2025-26, including Bennedict Mathurin.

Mathurin has recently been proving what he can do during the preseason, and many people are taking notice.

Evan Sidery noted a strong performance from Mathurin and said it could be indicative of the upcoming season.

“Bennedict Mathurin scored 27 points in the first half on 9-of-9 shooting. Mathurin is poised for a huge breakout campaign as a full-time starter for the Pacers,” Sidery posted on X.

Mathurin has spent his first three seasons with the Pacers, averaging 15.9 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.8 assists during that time.

His 44.6 field goal percentage has come in handy many times, and Mathurin has carved a reliable place for himself in the second unit.

However, he will be asked to do more than that in the new season.

Due to the losses of Haliburton and Myles Turner, the Pacers have a couple of fairly big voids to fill.

For the first time in his career, Mathurin will be a starter for Indiana.

That newfound responsibility could help him take a step up and become an even stronger player, although some people worry that the spotlight of such expectations could be too bright.

His numbers dipped a bit last season during the playoffs, and there are worries that Mathurin might not be able to handle the pressure.

But if his preseason work is any indication, Mathurin might be ready for what comes next.

This will be an interesting and challenging season for the Pacers, but it could be promising for several stars, including Mathurin.
