Knee injury sidelines Bears 2nd-round pick Shemar Turner for season

Bears defensive lineman Shemar Turner, one of the team’s three second-round rookies, tore his ACL Sunday and will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury.

Turner hurt his ankle on Day 1 of training camp and made his debut in Week 3. After the Week 5 bye, the Bears moved him from tackle to end to boost their run defense.

“We thought he was part of the solution there for us,” coach Ben Johnson said Monday. “I think he looked somewhat natural to play that spot for a guy that hadn’t done a ton of it. So we were really excited to see what this next half of the season was going to look like. … It’s a shame that we’re going to miss out on him.”

The Bears will promote Austin Booker, who had four preseason sacks before hurting his knee, from injured reserve. He’s been practicing with the team since Oct. 7. Fellow defensive end Dominique Robinson will miss a few weeks with a high-ankle sprain suffered on the opening kickoff against the Ravens.

Notes

• Luther Burden, another second-round rookie, is in concussion protocol. Fellow receiver Olamide Zaccheaus is day-to-day with a knee injury, Johnson said.

• Monday marked the one-year anniversary of the Fail Mary.

Over the two games, the Bears scored two touchdowns on 20 plays inside the 10 — a Swift run on third-and-goal from the 2 on Sunday and a one-yard Monangai run the week before.
Flacco has an injured right shoulder.
