BALLSTON, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A Frankfort man wanted for an alleged robbery in the Ballston McDonald’s parking lot on Church Avenue is in law enforcement’s custody after the U.S. Marshals Service arrested him on Tuesday morning. The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office said Joseph E. Hess, 32, is accused of robbing a pocketbook from a vehicle and hitting a 76-year-old victim with a car.
Deputies responded to the parking lot of McDonald’s around 6:25 p.m., after Hess allegedly returned to his vehicle after taking the bag. Law enforcement said that the victim had tried confronting Hess by approaching his car before he put it in reverse and hit the victim, leaving the scene.
Hess was arrested by law enforcement in a South Philadelphia hotel on Tuesday morning, around 6:30 a.m. Deputies said the victim is still receiving treatment for several compound leg fractures at Albany Medical Center.
Hess is being held at the George W. Hill Jail in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Saratoga County Sheriff Michael Zurlo said he is proud of the sheriff’s office’s investigators, who worked tirelessly to find Hess.
“I am grateful and relieved that he is off the streets and pray that justice will be served for the innocent victim,” Zurlo said.
