UHealth SoLé Mia reaches 330 patients daily in first month

Since opening this month, UHealth SoLé Mia has emerged as a cutting-edge destination for outpatient care in South Florida, blending world-class specialty medicine with advanced AI-driven technology, UHealth officials say.

Early use of the facility has focused on high-demand specialties, including oncology at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, vision care at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, urology at the Desai Sethi Urology Institute, and orthopedic and musculoskeletal care through the Hospital for Special Surgery collaboration, Vandana Pathak, assistant vice president for ambulatory services at UHealth SoLé Mia Medical Center, told Miami Today.

Additional specialties seeing early patient visits include cardiology, neurology, gastroenterology, dermatology, otolaryngology and gynecology, she said.

“From day one, physicians have been fully AI-enabled, using tools for guided scheduling, self-check-in, ambient dictation, and advanced coding support,” Ms. Pathak added. “These technologies streamline workflows and allow clinicians to dedicate more time to patient care, resulting in a smoother, more personalized experience for every visitor.”

Patients are using state-of-the-art suites and outpatient services, including diagnostic imaging, procedure rooms, and specialty consultations, all in an environment that emphasizes natural light, restorative surroundings and convenience, she continued.

“Early patient feedback highlights the immediate impact of once required lengthy travel is now accessible just minutes from home for the surrounding communities, demonstrating how SoLé Mia is redefining outpatient care while putting innovation at the center of the patient experience,” Ms. Pathak said.

On Sept. 30, UHealth SoLé Mia Medical Center officially opened and is actively providing care across a broad range of services, including diagnostic imaging, laboratory testing, optical care, speech and audiology, interventional radiology, physical therapy, radiation oncology, pharmacy, endoscopy, and perioperative services. UHealth SoLé Mia has been serving about 330 patients daily. Within six months, UHealth expects that to grow to as many as 1,500 per day.

“Notably, many of these patients are new to our health system – underscoring both the strong community demand and the importance of expanding access to academic medicine in the regions we serve,” Ms. Pathak added.

While the medical center is no longer hosting large-scale recruitment events or job fairs, UHealth says it is continuously seeking top-tier talent.

The facility was designed with the future in mind, with 60,000 square feet reserved for growth and expansion in the years ahead. As patient needs evolve, UHealth SoLé Mia says it plans to bring additional programs, specialties, and expertise to the community.

“As we look toward the new year, UHealth SoLé Mia will continue to serve as the North Star for how we bring innovation to life across our health system. This facility is not only redefining access to academic medicine in the community but also shaping the blueprint for the future of care delivery at UHealth,” Ms. Pathak said. “Every physician at SoLé Mia is AI-enabled, and we’re already seeing how that technology enhances both the patient and provider experience, from guided scheduling and self-check-in to ambient clinical documentation and advanced analytics that support precision medicine.”

UHealth’s goal is to take what’s working there and scale it systemwide, ensuring that every UHealth location benefits from the same seamless, technology-driven model of care, she said.

“As SoLé Mia grows, we’ll continue expanding specialty services, adding clinical programs, and leveraging data and AI insights to improve outcomes and efficiency,” she added. “In many ways, this building represents where we’re headed – a living example of how innovation, access and academic medicine come together to transform patient care.”
