A Malden woman was arrested and is accused of threatening to assault or kill federal agents who were engaging in lawful immigration enforcement.
Bethany Terrill, 37, was charged with threatening a United States official.
The Assistant U.S. Attorney from Massachusetts said Terrill was at Malden District Court last month because she has a restraining order against her. At the same time, federal agents were making an arrest.
Court documents revealed Terrill interfered with the arrest, yelling, “ICE is here, ICE is here,” and, “You guys are monsters, this is insane.”
She is also accused of attempting to physically get in the way of the arrest, and making threatening statements to kill federal officers.
The Department of Justice said Terrill was caught on agents’ body cameras saying, “Charlie Kirk died, and we love it, we’re coming for you, gonna kill you.”
Federal agents reported they told Terrill to back up, and when she did not, they tried to take her into custody, but say, “Terrill, who was wearing long acrylic fingernails, hooked her finger on one cuff to prevent the Agents from latching the second cuff onto her wrist.”
The government said Terrill is a public safety risk with a history of persistent harassment and intimidation.
Her defense attorney said the 37-year-old was not trying to incite violence, and she is a salon owner who goes to church. Her defense attorney had no comment for 7NEWS outside court Thursday.
The judge released Terrill and ordered her to get a mental health evaluation, mental health treatment, and to stay away from federal officials. If she is found guilty, this charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.
