Man accused of shooting into St. Louis home with kids inside

ST. LOUIS – A St. Peters man faces multiple felony charges after allegedly firing shots into a home earlier this month.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded to shots fired into a residence at the 5700 block of Maffitt Ave on Oct. 5. When they arrived, they spoke with the victim, who told officers he was lying in bed when he heard multiple gunshots strike his house. Four minors were also inside the home at the time of the shooting.

Officers observed bullet damage to the victim’s bedroom and other parts of the house. During the investigation, police learned that the suspect, later identified as Rashaud Jones, had been making threats toward the kids in the home through a text chat.

Police later reviewed Jones’ phone and found a video of him allegedly shooting a rifle at the victim’s residence. Police also searched his property and recovered a spent cartridge casing that testing linked to ballistics from the scene.

The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office charged Jones with first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and two counts of armed criminal action. He is currently being held without bond.
