Man critically wounded in South Loop shooting

A man is in critical condition at a hospital after being shot twice in the back Wednesday night in the South Loop.

It happened around 9:05 p.m., when the 32-year-old man was walking in the 1000 block of South State Street, Chicago police said. A gunman approached and opened fire hitting him twice in the back.

He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he was in critical condition, police said.

No one was in custody.

Area 3 detectives are investigating.
