10/20/2025: Showery Monday, Slowly Trending Cooler

The Latest Storm Tracker Forecast from Meteorologist Kevin Appleby:

Scattered showers and downpours continue to lift through the region this morning, with a few more showers expected this afternoon as we remain under the influence of low pressure tracking through the region. After a nice Tuesday, temperatures trend downwards for the remainder of the forecast.

This morning’s scattered showers and downpours should be well to our northeast by late morning. Isolated sprinkles and showers will persist until mid afternoon, when a bit more organized, but still scattered, rain shower activity will pick up and persist into early this evening.

Temperatures going forward today should slide from where they are right now – mid 60s this morning, but expect temps to fall into the 50s by 5 PM.

Temperatures shouldn’t get to chilly tonight with only partly clear skies and a decent wind still puffing from the west-southwest. Lows will be in the upper 30s to mid 40s.

Tuesday is the pick of the week. Lots of sun will fade behind more PM cloud cover, but not before temperatures spike into the low to mid 60s.

Later Tuesday and into Wednesday, another disturbance will track through the region, bringing scattered showers as soon as Tuesday evening, continuing into Wednesday.

Temperatures will slide gradually in wake of this system. After struggling to get to 60 on Wednesday, temperatures slide back another 2 to 4 degrees on Thursday.

Thursday will continue to maintain a shower threat, but the greatest likelihood and consistency of showers is anticipated north and west of the Capital Region with this being a lake-effect setup. That setup will deteriorate on Friday allowing for more sunshine, but if some lingering moisture can be squeezed out Friday morning up in the Adirondacks, it could mean the first flakes of the season for some of the high peaks! I wouldn’t expect much, if any, accumulation for those flakes though. It is certainly a sign of the times… As we head towards the final weekend of October, temperatures look to be slightly below average with highs in the mid 50s. I won’t rule out a few showers on Sunday at this range, but I also don’t see a signal for widespread rain on that day at this time.
