Minnesota exports declined by $1.3 billion in the second quarter of 2025, FOX 9 reports. The drop is largely due to a 96% decline in fuel and gas exports to Canada compared to the same period last year. “Exports to Mexico and China, the state’s second and third largest markets, also fell by more than 20% each. However, Minnesota is seeing strong export growth across Europe, with increased exports to Ireland, the United Kingdom, Germany and Switzerland.”
While exports are down in the dumps, at least Minnesota can boast about having the nation’s best restroom. The bathroom products company Cintas crowned a facility at Bear Head lake State Park, near Ely, as the winner of it’s annual “best bathroom” award. The “thoughtful design in a stunning setting … raises expectations for public spaces everywhere,” according to the Minnesota Star Tribune.
Last week, the Trump Administration issued an ultimatum to ban transgender students from competing in high school sports or “risk the consequences.” Minnesota state officials have rejected that demand, KSTP reports. “In a response to the DOJ on Friday, Ellison’s office held firm on its stance and said any effort to withdraw federal funds from Minnesota schools would require ‘an extensive, multi-step administrative process.’”
Erroneous breathalyzer results have prompted the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension to temporary withdraw DataMaster instruments because “data entry errors in the breathalyzer’s gas cylinders potentially skewed results,” MPR News reports. “The agency will review data in each DataMaster’s gas cylinder to ensure it is accurate. And moving forward, the BCA will be responsible for all replacement and maintenance of the gas cylinders.”
