Motorcyclist dies in four-car crash on I-80 in Oakland

(KRON) — The California Highway Patrol Oakland area office is investigating a four-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon on I-80 in Oakland where a motorcyclist died.

CHP Oakland said its officers responded to the traffic collision at 2:30 p.m. on eastbound I-80, west of Powell Street.

The four vehicles involved in the crash were a Honda VT motorcycle, Toyota Prius, Tesla Model S, and a Subaru Crosstrek, according to CHP.

“The collision resulted in one fatality to the rider of the Honda VT motorcycle,” said CHP in a statement to KRON4. “Alcohol and/or drugs were not suspected to be a factor, at this time.”

The crash shut down lanes 1, 2 and 3.

The cause of the crash has not yet been determined.

All drivers remained at the scene and are cooperating with the active investigation, confirmed CHP.
