Pedestrian hit by car dies in San Jose: PD

(KRON) — A pedestrian was hit and killed by a car while crossing the street near the intersection of Monterey Road and Edenview Drive early Thursday morning, according to the San Jose Police Department.

The pedestrian was crossing outside of any designated crosswalks shortly before 6 a.m. when a man driving a 2001 Acura sedan hit them, police said. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

“The driver of the vehicle initially left the scene, but returned shortly after and cooperated with the investigation,” SJPD said.

The crash was San Jose’s 30th traffic death and 15th pedestrian death of 2025. The victim’s identity is not publicly known at this time.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
