Projectile fired after driver rams into Fremont police vehicles at car wash: PD

(KRON) — The Fremont Police Department said detectives fired a “less-lethal” projectile at a suspect’s car after its driver rammed into detectives’ vehicles multiple times at a car wash.

FPD said its Investigations Unit located a vehicle on Oct. 22 that was suspected in “several commercial burglaries of businesses and temples in Fremont and other Bay Area cities.”

Fremont police said the vehicle had a stolen license plate when it was discovered in the undisclosed neighboring city.

When the car was stopped at a car wash, police said the female driver hopped back into the car when detectives tried to detain her.

“She entered her vehicle and rammed it into the detectives’ vehicles several times,” said police. “Detectives used a less-lethal projectile to shatter the rear windshield, and the subject fled on foot.”

FPD said the woman was later apprehended by police and taken into custody. She was not identified in a police post about the incident.

FPD confirmed she was not struck by the projectile but did not say whether any detectives were injured in the incident.

It is not clear what charges she faces.
