The Buffalo Bills have lost consecutive games, falling 24-14 to the Atlanta Falcons on Monday night after dropping their previous matchup against the New England Patriots.
The back-to-back defeats have raised questions about Buffalo’s consistency and overall strength heading deeper into the season.
Their four wins this year came against the Baltimore Ravens, New York Jets, Miami Dolphins, and New Orleans Saints, teams with a combined three victories through six weeks.
That reality has amplified scrutiny surrounding whether the Bills can maintain any real momentum moving forward.
During a recent segment of The Herd, Colin Cowherd raised significant doubts about the Bills’ direction under head coach Sean McDermott.
“I kind of feel like they’re stuck. I think Josh Allen knows it. And I think you can see the body language. The Bills have faced the easiest schedule in the league so far. I just think Buffalo – they need to find playmakers, they need to add juice. I’m not sure McDermott’s it. And I think Josh Allen is a great kid and wouldn’t say it publicly, but when’s the last time you watched the Bills game? And you went, ‘Whoa!’” Cowherd said.

He drew an unexpected comparison to the NBA, specifically the Golden State Warriors under Mark Jackson.
Everyone liked Jackson, but he did not give Steph Curry what he truly needed until Steve Kerr arrived and transformed the franchise.
Cowherd sees a similar situation developing in Buffalo. He respects McDermott but questions whether the playcalling and creativity are enough to truly elevate Allen.
Unlike coaches such as Andy Reid, Sean McVay, or Sean Payton, McDermott is not the kind of offensive engineer who constantly tweaks schemes or designs plays with relentless innovation.
Defensive limitations have become more apparent, particularly against the run, where Buffalo has shown clear weaknesses with average personnel.
Offensively, the lack of dynamic playmakers has put additional pressure on quarterback Josh Allen to carry the offense without much support around him.
Cowherd thinks Allen can sense the limitations, particularly as the team continues paying him while struggling to address clear roster deficiencies.
