Thunder excited to open season on Sunday

GLENS FALLS, NY (NEWS10) — The Adirondack Thunder are just days away from taking the ice in their season opener. It’s a new year with a new coach for the Thunder as the organization looks to bounce back from a disappointing 2024-25 campaign.

Year one under Sylvain Cloutier will start on Sunday, October 18th, with a trip to face the Worcester Railers. The Thunder are coming off two wins in the preseason, outscoring their opponents a combined 6-1.

It’s been a long preseason for these players, with some even taking part in camp with the organizations higher level affiliates. This team is chomping at the bit to play one that counts towards their record.

“Some of them have been going nonstop for eight weeks,” Cloutier said. “With NHL camps, AHL camps, scrimmaging and practicing. I know as a former player, when you play, you want to play games. I think they’ve waited long enough, and I think they’re really excited about Sunday.”

The season begins on Sunday in Worcester at 3:05 p.m., the Thunder will then hold their home opener one week from Saturday against Trois-Rivieres.
