(KRON) — San Jose police are investigating a two-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon that killed one driver and left the other in critical condition. Commuters are being urged to avoid the area as traffic will be heavily impacted for an unknown amount of time.
The collision happened at 2:35 p.m. in the area of Foxworthy and Jarvis avenues.
Both vehicles were occupied by a solo driver, according to police.

One driver succumbed to their injuries at the scene, while the other driver was taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.
“Units are actively investigating this incident,” said police in a social media post. “Foxworthy Ave. from Meridian Ave. to Jarvis Avenue will be blocked off in both directions for a significant amount of time.”
The cause of the crash has not been determined. It is not yet known if drugs or alcohol played factors.
