The Sacramento Kings made it official on Wednesday when they signed Russell Westbrook after months of rumors and speculation.
Now, the former MVP is coming to a team that desperately wants to get on track.
Reports from inside the Kings say that the Westbrook signing had the full support of Sacramento’s biggest stars.
“DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine and Domantas Sabonis pushed for the Kings to sign Russell Westbrook,” per Shams Charania.

These three players believe there is a lot of upside to having Westbrook in the lineup, but some Sacramento fans aren’t so sure.
The last few years have been filled with inconsistency from Westbrook, and he hasn’t shone as brightly as he once did.
Plus, he hasn’t stayed in one location for very long, leading to some claims that he’s not a team player.
But the Kings still belong to DeRozan, LaVine, and Sabonis, at least for now.
They hold all the power, and they feel that this team needs the sort of boost that Westbrook can bring.
The front office wants to keep them happy, plus they didn’t have to spend too much to get Westbrook.
Therefore, they were willing to take the risk, especially to please their three biggest stars.
The Kings have their work cut out for them, particularly because the Western Conference is so stacked this year.
If they aren’t able to climb up from their place in the standings from last season, many people predict the Kings will look radically different next season.
This is a team to watch when the trade deadline rolls around.
Westbrook believes in himself, and he has the backing of Sacramento’s lead trio.
Now it’s time to see what sort of impact he can make.
