Tyrese Haliburton of the Indiana Pacers and Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics are obviously huge on-court rivals.
But they are also friends outside of the game and are currently going through a painfully similar process.
Haliburton recently revealed that Tatum has been providing him with heartfelt support as he has recovered from his Achilles injury.
“He’s helped me stay upbeat… he’s a great person for me to talk to, kind of lean on. You know he’s obviously been talking about being able to come back this year. I really hope he’s able to do that,” Haliburton said of Tatum.

Both Haliburton and Tatum went down during the postseason last year in painful moments that shattered their teams’ chances.
Since then, they have been hard at work attempting to get better but that’s a slow process and it’ll be some time before either of them are able to suit up and take to the court.
Tatum is optimistic that he will be back sooner rather than later and has informed his Celtics that he wishes to play at some point during th 2025-26 season.
As for Haliburton, he is more of a question mark and it’s not clear when he will be back.
Until then, they will continue to support one another and help them navigate a very tricky and challenging period.
By this time next year, Haliburton and Tatum will be trying to defeat one another but for now they are sharing a special and unfortunate bond that is bringing them closer together.
