A warming and drying trend is expected Thursday and Friday across San Diego County, with daytime highs returning to near-normal levels, according to the National Weather Service.

High temperatures Thursday are expected to reach 67 to 72 near the coast, 71 to 74 inland, 71 to 76 in the valleys, 67 to 74 in the mountains and 85 to 89 in the deserts, the NWS said.

Cooler, windier weather will move in over the weekend as another system arrives. Gusty west winds are likely Sunday afternoon and evening, especially in the mountains, deserts and passes, where gusts over 30 mph are possible.

The system bringing the wind looks dry, with any rain or storms staying well to the north, according to the weather agency.

Early next week, gradual warming is forecast to return along with periods of weak offshore flow, meteorologists said.
