SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Tesla CEO and former Bay Area resident Elon Musk went on a social media tirade against San Francisco this weekend after Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff told The New York Times that he wants President Donald Trump to send the National Guard to San Francisco.
On Saturday around 10:24 p.m., Musk responded to an X post supporting the idea of Trump sending the National Guard to San Francisco.
“SF downtown is a drug-zombie apocalypse,” Musk wrote.
Musk also responded to an X post, which argued against the National Guard being deployed to The City and called for stricter judges.
“To the [non-governmental organizations] funded by the Benioff tax, the drug dealers are a feature, not a bug,” Musk wrote. “The NGOs get paid close to a million dollars for each drug zombie they ‘manage.’ Their incentive is therefore massive to keep the narcotics dealers operating, otherwise their herd of drug zombies will leave. You may have noticed how easily the drug zombies were removed from SF when President Xi came to town. Doesn’t it seem odd that there were literally zero drug zombies in SF when he visited? Zero.”
Later, Musk reposted X user Mario Nawfal, seemingly agreeing with a “💯” emoji.
“Forget cable cars and sourdough,” the X post reads. “San Francisco’s got a new rep: America’s biggest open-air drug bazaar. Streets that once buzzed with tech bros now buzz with overdoses, crime scenes, and chaos. Cops are outnumbered, drug dealers clock in like it’s a 9-to-5, and overdose deaths keep climbing. Meanwhile, city leaders say everything’s ‘under control,’ which sounds a lot like ‘please don’t look outside.’ So here’s the dilemma: send troops, or keep pretending the city’s fine while people die on sidewalks? San Francisco’s running out of time … and excuses.”

At 12:38 a.m. Sunday, Musk responded to X posts by former drug user and recovery advocate Tom Wolf. In the Posts, Wolf argues that deporting drug dealers would help keep the National Guard out of San Francisco.
“It’s the only solution at this point,” Musk responded. “Nothing else has or will work.”
On Saturday, SF Mayor Daniel Lurie’s Press Secretary Charles Lutvak provided a response to the idea that Trump should deploy federal troops to The City.
“Public safety is and has always been our administration’s number one priority,” Lutvak told KRON4. “Mayor Lurie launched his Rebuilding the Ranks plan in May to bring our police staffing up to the expert-recommended goal of 2,000 officers. And for the first time in nearly a decade, San Francisco is seeing net gains in both police officers and sheriff’s deputies. Crime is down nearly 30% citywide and at its lowest point in decades. We are moving in the right direction and will continue to prioritize safety and hiring while San Francisco law enforcement works every single day to keep our city safe.”
