Woman, 63, seriously injured in hit-and-run crash in El Cajon

EL CAJON, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — Authorities are investigating a hit-and-run crash that left a woman with serious injuries in El Cajon.

El Cajon police say the woman, 63, was crossing southbound in the area of Main and Orlando streets when she was hit by a vehicle headed westbound on Main Street. The crash happened around 10 p.m. Thursday.

The pedestrian was taken to the hospital with major injuries. Authorities have not released her name.

After the collision, the vehicle did not stop and fled the scene, according to police. Investigators identified the suspect vehicle as a Hyundai Sonata.

The car was later found parked and unoccupied in a nearby neighborhood, police said. However, authorities are still searching for the driver and the investigation is ongoing.
