(KRON) — A Stockton man was arrested for attempted homicide over the weekend after shooting and critically injuring a woman in Vallejo last week, according to authorities.
The Vallejo Police Department received an emergency call at 11:06 a.m. on Thursday from a woman reporting that she had been shot and was traveling to an area hospital. Officers met with the victim at the hospital and learned that she was suffering from life-threatening injuries after being shot in the 100 block of Forest Ridge Drive.
Investigators identified the shooting suspect as DeShawn Michael Cochise Pollard, 34, of Stockton. Vallejo police obtained an arrest warrant and alerted the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office after investigators learned he was possibly in the Sacramento area.
On Saturday at 8:25 p.m., the Sacramento sheriff’s office saw Pollard traveling on the 4500 block of Ledonne Drive and attempted a traffic stop, according to authorities. Police said Pollard fled the stop in his vehicle before colliding with another occupied vehicle. He was arrested near Florin Road and 55th Street after a brief foot chase.
The driver of the uninvolved vehicle was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, Vallejo PD said.
Pollard was booked into the Solano County Jail on multiple felony counts, including attempted murder.
